MICROWAVE SICKNESS (MWS)
"Microwave Sickness Reappraisal (MWS) A Reappraisal" Occupational Medicine, 51, pp.66-69, February 2001 " …Involves the nervous system and includes fatigue, headaches , dysaesthesia and various autonomic effects…" "It is concluded that MWS is a medical entity which should be recognised as a possible risk from radiofrequency radiation workers." Microwave News March/April 2001.
IN THE SCHOOLS
Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) - System of Communication
Research has revealed that exposure to microwave emissions from telecommunication transmission towers, affects visual reaction time and reduces memory function in student's of a nearby school. (Chiang. 1989)
A study by Dr Henry Lai , University of Washington (1996-200) showed long and short term memory loss in rats exposed to 2.45 GigaHertz microwaves.
The Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) is a system of communication between computers which utilises radiowaves and microwaves, rather than fixed cables. Transmitters are employed which emit signals in the gighertz range of the electromagnetic spectrum which will penetrate all matter including human tissue, within its range of influence.

CLASSROOM EMR EXPOSURE
Computer use in the classroom is now becoming an educational necessity, the newer wireless system, seen as an advantage, economically.
As the electromagnetic and radiofrequency emissions from PC's is as yet not considered to be harmful, many children will be unwittingly be exposed to an environmental factor that has the potential to harm health.
See: Computers and the Developing Child pp.69-73 - Electromagnetic Radiation and Your Health (1999) B. Venables (Details on this site )
Already, some children are known to react adversely to the fluorescent lighting in the schoolroom.
In California (USA), an EMF survey showed about 1,700 classrooms had an average EMF exposure level over 5 milliGauss. A 24 page executive summary on the report is at (MWN Jan/Feb 2001)
How long will it take for such a survey in Australia to take place ?
Who is looking after Australian children ???
