June 1998 : EM-field a possible carcinogen
A press release dated 24th June 1998, states that the electromagnetic fields of the type to be found surrounding electricity power lines, should be considered as a "possible human carcinogen".
This is the conclusion of the majority of a panel of experts, commissioned by the U.S. based National Institute of Environmental Health Services (NIEHS) However, the recommendation will not necessarily be accepted for inclusion in the NIEHS report to the U.S. congress.
